S.C.R.I.B.E.'s Editor Tips
Nearly all bulletin editors, new and old alike, will, at certain points in their editorial "careers," encounter issues, problems, or questions regarding the technical or editorial aspects of putting their bulletins together. Sometimes the answers to those questions are obvious—sometimes not. Sometimes, too, the answers simply involve knowing what are regarded as the best practices within the editorial community.
In 2015, several S.C.R.I.B.E. members participated in a group dialogue on the S.C.R.I.B.E. Discussion Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Scribefolks) with the goal of compiling and organizing a document containing recommendations and best practices related to bulletin editing. The Editor Tips document is the result of that effort.
We began with the basic intent of capturing and sharing our rockhound bulletin editors’ experiences as "tips" to attract and guide both new and experienced editors in this fun and rewarding service to their clubs. Editor Tips is a living document and will be updated as captured tips are further refined and new tips are identified and added.
